Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Oh boy, you scrum nerds have your fingers ready to tap. It’s true, I like Ultimate Smash. In fact, I’m a dirty casual who always gravitates towards the newest smash Game. But Ultimate Smash is just that: the ultimate smash. With a roster unmatched by any video game crossover we’ve ever seen, chances are even the most casual gamer will find a character they love and can play as. smash is and always has been a party game for everyone, even if the internet may want you to believe otherwise. —CS

Cheer them cowboy. This is Fortnite time. I played this game when it first came out, then hated it because of all the dabbing, and am now firmly in bed with it. I like Fortnite. You hear me? I love it. I play it constantly. I never thought I’d get here, but here I am: playing Fortnite, cheering on the noobs and getting those sweet, sweet victory royales. My team kicks your team’s ass, and because of that, it’s one of my favorite multiplayer games out there. Until we lose. So this game absolutely blows. —CS

I know I could have chosen one of the classics Mario Partiesbut why would i do that when Superstars is the best and brightest and so much more accessible? Mario Party Superstars is the mario party we have been waiting for years. Classic boards, the best minigames, all in an updated package with tons of quality of life improvements. Don’t worry, the mario party the bullshit is still out there in droves, and it’s as infuriating as you remember. You’ll love it. —CS

Have you ever wanted to gang up on a group of friends and absolutely destroy the fun time of another unsuspecting player who just wants a little horse riding? Red Dead Redemption 2The online mode is there for you. Of course, you can play any number of cooperative adventures provided by the game. But really, you’re just here to survive. Is that when things get…fun? Scary? Both? We are still not sure. —BL

Whether Glove isn’t one of the OGs of four player co-op, I don’t know what is. dark legacy took this top-down hack-and-slash title to a whole new level with tons of characters, costumes, a progression system, and some of the best lines of music and announcers in any game. There’s nothing quite like hearing a booming voice say “you’re greedy” when you know you’re playing like a rat hoarding food. Also, there’s a tall wizard with a white beard, so I’m immediately into it. We need a remake or successor to this game stat, because no Glove has held a candle to it ever since. —CS

Yo ho ho, Captain Sherrill here to tell you that if you thought mario party was a friendship ruiner, wait until you tried to sail with your compatriots. Someone is always screwing up and pissing me off on my ship, but I’m also always having a blast. sea of thieves is one of those games where I can truly say that nothing quite like it exists. It’s the perfect pirate game with adventures, krakens, sea battles, and a beautiful aesthetic that could only be accomplished by Rare. sea of thieves is not only one of the best multiplayer games, but one of the best games of all time. It’s also free with an Xbox or PC Game Pass, and available on Steam, so you have no excuse not to browse. —CS

WarioWare: Unite!

It’s definitely the most frenetic multiplayer experience on our list. It’s fast but extremely easy to control, making it ideal for players of all skill levels. And there are tons of multiplayer options ranging from co-op to versus, all equally fast and hilarious. WarioWare is just authentic and pure pleasure. —CS

monster hunter has to be the greatest cooperative online game there is. Of course, some claim that the title goes to rainbow six or any other nonsensical tactical shooter. But why shoot people when you can have the thrill of hunting a beast? Rise of the Monster Hunter is the easiest monster hunter to be resumed to date – not that that says a lot, because the game is still extremely complicated. The series sees players crafting gear and a variety of weapons to become more powerful hunters, while balancing strategies and teamwork to cooperatively take down certain Golaiths. It’s an absolute game, and few other games offer the same teamwork-inspired satisfaction. —CS

Grand Theft Auto V Online

Alright, let’s put Grand Theft Auto V77 years online experience here. Lots of players love it. U.S. too. It gives us a chance for new adventures in our favorite adult McDonald’s gaming spot, after all, running, shooting and driving until we lay down and go to sleep. We just need Grand Theft Auto VI. Please, Rockstar. Stop messing around. You are hurting us. —BL

Most of these games are new, but Time Separators 2 always take the cake for me. Whenever I want to play an FPS, this is the one I want. With wacky characters, insane levels, and mechanics that are the closest we’ve come to a fully polished game golden eye, it’s an almost perfect multiplayer shooter. Beyond that, it has a killer co-op campaign. With Time Separators (very vaguely) announcing his return, it’s high time to review the lore. —CS

Some objective truths about Broforce, just for you. It’s a side-scrolling 2D platformer shooter. Broforce is a love letter to ’80s action movies, but also a devastating roast of them. Game characters: Rambro, Brommando, Bro Hard, MacBrover, Bro In Black, Brominator, Brobocop Indiana Brones, you got it. Oh. And you really want to play this game. With your brother. Brother. —BL

The best part of shovel knight is you can buy it and pretend you did it for the really fantastic co-op and then after you take a look in the mirror and realize you’re alone in perpetuity you’ll recognize that you also have a excellent single player campaign in your hands. I mean, damn it, co-op is a pain anyway; they can jump on your head and steal your life. You better deer. Go get them, tiger. —CS

What ruins friendship? Silver? Drugs? No. Overcooked ruins friendships. Rapidly. If you’re unaware of this cursed and chaotic game, it sees you piloting a cute little animated chef alongside your buddy’s cute little animated chef. The goal: Take food orders from customers. Maybe it’s a burger. Sushi, even. Then you have to work with your friend to cook the damn thing before the next order, and the next order after that. If your buddy biffs an ingredient, or is too slow, I promise you’ll hate him like you’ve never hated anyone in your life. —BL

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

Cowabunga all you pies and pies. It’s time for the shells. I love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I love their games even more. turtles in time remains the best arcade beat ’em up, at least until DotEmu gives us The Shredder’s Revenge. I mean, it’s a team of four turtles who fight crime and do karate, and you can play with them. What more do you need to hear from me? —CS

Minecraft is one of those weird games where, depending on your settings and your team, can either be the most therapeutic and deeply relaxing game, or a terribly chaotic, fitness-heavy time. It goes without saying, Minecraft we have fun with friends, even lovers. Or just friends. Build your city, survive the night, and gaze into each other’s eyes with envy before facing the Ender Dragon. —CS

A friend of mine is convinced jack box staged the entire pandemic to pave the way for it to rise, even if we had played jack box long before the sick man. Bioterrorist theories aside, it’s a great online party game, as it only requires its players to understand the basic rules and own a smartphone. It’s extremely easy to pick up and play, and it’s pure madness. —CS

You know Mario Kart. Everyone knows Mario Kart. Haha, funny blue shell, eat shit Nathan. This is the new one Mario Kartwhich is slightly older Mario Kart revamped. You can fly and go underwater, and there are bikes. He almost lost to Mario Kart Wii on this list because it omitted Coconut Mall, but that’s an entirely separate issue. —CS

There are games that when you talk about it, you say, “Yeah, I remember when I played the BLANK game. Others? You look yourself in the eye and say, “There was a time in my life when I only played this game.” Left 4 Dead 2, no doubt, fell into the latter camp for a generation of gamers who enjoyed killing zombies. It provided the fast-paced, undead shoot-em-up that probably induced the same amount of adrenaline as a real zombie invasion. We think. —BL

I run several Sports Wii fan accounts. Major Sports Wii stan here even Wii Sports Complex. Tennis, boxing, that glorious sport of bowling, and more—Sports Wii is one of the best multiplayer games simply because everyone, and I mean pretty much everyone, loved playing it together. Sports Wii is the only thing that appeases my busy brain, and the fact that they didn’t port it to Switch is a crime that, even with my limited legal training, pretty much violates several terms set out in the Geneva Conventions. —CS
