AIB said its internet banking services are no longer affected by delays and card transactions are working again.
In a statement to Independent.ie, AIB said: “Connections to AIB Internet Banking and Mobile Banking are no longer affected by delays, and card-based e-commerce transactions that require strong customer authentication are working again. “
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this issue has caused,” the statement read.
Earlier today, the bank admitted it was experiencing “technical difficulties” with its online banking services and apps.
Its credit card services team experienced “higher than normal call volume” and customers said they had to wait up to an hour.
Many customers took to social media on Thursday afternoon to express their frustration with the banking service as they were unable to complete transactions.
Some customers said they were unable to access their account online or use the verification feature to log in.
Other users also said that they were unable to transfer funds to their Revolut account.
A Twitter user wrote, “Is there a problem with the @AIBIreland app? Unable to book or pay for services online. Verified by Visa process not working. Push notifications are enabled.”
A second user said, “@AIBIreland.. your mobile app and web services have been down for 1 hour already! We live in 2022, how can this happen? Shocking.”
While another user wrote, “@AskAIB Are there any issues with the AIB banking app? Tried 5 times to login and still getting a login timeout message.”
