Barclays app and online banking down with error RPS01 – what we know

Customers were reported to be struggling to make payments through the app, online banking and over the phone.

Reports on social media and the Down Detector outage website show the problems began around 7pm on Sunday January 30 and lasted until around 11pm.

Barclays confirmed customers could make payments over the phone at 11:09 p.m. on Twitter.

At 8:53 p.m., Barclays tweeted: “If you are having difficulty making payments through our apps, online banking or by phone at this time, we are sorry.

“We are working to resolve this issue and will update you here as soon as possible.

“Thank you for putting up with us.”

“Hello, I just made a transfer from one Barclays account to another, and the money was withdrawn from one and not placed in the other?” says a customer.

Another customer tweeted, “Sent money and it’s gone.”

Another confirmed: ‘Yeah I just transferred some money and it’s gone now.’

Customers are reporting an RPS01 error on the app.

According to the Barclays website, the RPS01 error displays this message:

Sorry, something went wrong and your payment may not have gone through. Do not attempt to make another payment. You should verify your account after 4 hours, and if the payment has not been processed, you will need to resubmit it.

The error code suggests that the payment system is not working. Barclays asks customers not to try to resubmit payment as the issue usually resolves itself within four hours.

Barclays advised people to clear their cache and cookies on their devices earlier in the evening.

Customers can visit the website and sign up to receive a message when the services are back up and running.
