THOUSANDS of Barclays customers struggled to access their accounts this morning after online banking and banking apps crashed.
According to complaint tracker Downdetector, nearly 2,000 people were unable to log into their accounts, with problems starting around 6 a.m.

However, Barclays confirmed to The Sun that the issue has since been resolved.
The areas which appeared to be the most affected were London and Plymouth, with other cities like Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham also being affected.
About 65% of complaints were due to issues with mobile banking services, 29% were due to online banking services, and 6% were related to issues viewing account balances.
Customers have taken to Twitter to complain about issues accessing their accounts to make payments and view their balances.
A customer said, “Is Barclays having a problem with online banking, I can’t see my account?” “
Another said, “Barclays, what’s wrong with your app this morning? “
Other customers said they couldn’t see their accounts at all when they could log in.
“Is there something wrong with the app? My accounts are gone,” one person said.
While another tweeted, “Is someone else’s Barclays app down ?? I don’t see any of my accounts when I open the app?
A Barclays spokesperson said: “We apologize to customers who have not been able to access the Barclays app and can confirm that service has been restored.
“Our automated online and telephone banking services were not affected and customers were able to transfer funds, make payments and check balances.”
There is no automatic right to compensation in the event of failure of your bank’s service.
But you might get money back under certain circumstances, depending on how an outage affected you.
It is worth gathering evidence of your problems so that you can make a formal complaint to Barclays.
Try to keep track of when you were unable to access the website or app, as well as any charges you incurred as a result.
If your credit rating has been affected by a service outage, because you received late payment fees after being unable to complete a transaction, for example, you should also keep track of them.
This is not the first bank crash to hit the British this week.
On Monday, HSBC and NatWest both fell for thousands of customers.
How can I check if Barclays is down?
Barclays has a dedicated page on its website that indicates if any services are affected, including the Barclays and Barclaycard apps, websites, and telephone and online banking.
You can also check out websites like Down Detector, which will let you know if other people are having issues online with a particular business.
Barclays provides banking and savings services, while Barclaycard is a brand of Barclays credit cards.
It’s also a good idea to check social media – head to Barclay’s Twitter page where he could post more details on the issue.
