The gaming market in India has exploded in recent years, with the rise of smartphone games making it easier than ever to access many of the most popular titles. Many companies like Acer have invested heavily in the country to capitalize on the growing interest in games, launching an Indian edition of its Predator Gaming League.

Call of Duty is one of the most popular first-person shooters in the world, so it’s no surprise that a free mobile version broke download records when it launched in October 2019.

It’s available on both iOS and Android devices and has plenty of maps and game modes that regular CoD players will be familiar with.

Unlike the console and PC versions, Call of Duty: Mobile does not have a single player campaign mode. Instead, players can only play online against others.

The popularity of the game in India has been bolstered by esports events such as the NODWIN Gaming Call of Duty: Mobile India Challenge which took place in December 2020.

A few years after its first release, Valve added microtransactions that allow players to customize their characters. This was a defining moment for CS: GO as it quickly became one of the most played first person shooter games on the market.

At the end of 2018, the game became free to play, helping to make it even more popular.

As of early 2021, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive remains one of the biggest esports in India. The ESL India Premiership recently hosted a CS: GO tournament during its winter season, with coverage airing on Disney + Hotstar.
