Launch of a new mobile application, Sadai, to facilitate the online marketing of agricultural products


Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Wednesday launched a mobile app called “Sadai” for online sale of agricultural products saying that the country faces a great challenge in marketing products despite a success in production.

“The production of all agricultural products, including rice, wheat, corn, vegetables and fruits has increased in the country. Remarkable success was achieved in the production. But now the biggest challenge is marketing these agricultural products, ”he said.

The minister made the remarks in his ministry’s conference room after launching a mobile application called “Sodai” for the online sale of agricultural products.

The mobile application is implemented by the Agricultural Marketing Directorate (DAM) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Dr Razzaque said: “In many cases, farmers cannot market their products and do not get the right prices. In addition to ensuring fair prices for farmers, it is also essential to assure consumers to provide safe and adulteration-free products at appropriate prices, he added.

He hoped that this “Sodai” mobile application would work for this purpose by reducing the arbitrariness of intermediaries.

The Principal Secretary of Agriculture, Mesbahul Islam, presided over the ceremony, while the Director General of DAM, Mohammed Yousuf, and the additional secretary of the ministry, Hasanuzzaman Kallol, spoke on the occasion.
