Learn in the new world of online education

As camps and schools across the country have closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic — and many are still unsure when schools will reopen in the fall — parents have turned to online resources to keep their children engaged and interested in the topics and topics that interest them. Outschool is an online learning platform with live interactive lessons for children aged 3-18. Children learn best through interaction, and that means adults and other children. What parents saw in the spring with distance learning was often a pile of lifeless worksheets or following a self-paced digital curriculum that was boring, outdated and often ineffective. Parents had to resort to video games outside of work hours, as “good screen” alternatives were scarce.

After-school classes help learners overcome the challenges of learning as a social activity by keeping children engaged in topics that interest them with instructors who are passionate about what they teach. The platform has a unique selection of over 50,000 live course offerings, like learning to code, decorating cupcakes, cooking lessons, drawing lessons, teaching architecture via Minecraft ., as well as traditional courses like algebra and world history.

A recent Extracurricular investigation found that almost ⅔ (61%) of parents had reservations about sending their children back to school in the fall for in-person lessons and 40% were now more open to homeschooling their children. children following their experiences during the Covid-19 crisis. Many schools across the country are now gearing up again for distance learning or a hybrid model of in-person and homeschooling.

This summer, Outschool announced a full line of online summer camps for children in camps across the country who have been forced into virtual mode due to Covid-19. For fall 2020, they will be launching a full suite of enrichment offerings and additional training courses to help with distance learning. With over 5,000 teachers on the platform and hundreds of thousands of learners, Outschool is helping to foster a love of learning and closing the gap where students may be falling behind during this crisis.
