Link Systems International Announces Continuing Partnership with California Virtual Campus – Online Education Initiative

SACRAMENTO, CA, USA, April 21, 2022 / — For nine years, Link-Systems International (LSI) has worked with ACTLA to optimize tutoring and related services, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of students traditionally underrepresented in higher education. The effectiveness of the ACTLA-LSI partnership was demonstrated at the annual ACTLA conference, through the development of online tutoring standardsand in alliance with higher education institutions across the country.

At this year’s ACTLA conference, LSI is pleased to announce the renewal of its contract and partnership with the California Virtual Campus – Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI). This extension ensures that NetTutor will continue to provide students with 24/7 online tutoring and, providing a seamless user experience, the NetTutor (Pisces) platform can be used by faculty and campus staff. Of their partnership, Dr. Jory Hadsell, District Vice Chancellor of Foothill Community College–De Anza and Executive Sponsor of CVC-OEI, says, “The Link-Systems leadership team has always approached our relationship as partners truly collaborative, and they have demonstrated an ongoing stake in our success. Their focus on prioritizing student success and valuing feedback from our stakeholders has fueled a collaborative partnership that enables us to serve students effectively. from a diverse set of colleges and demographics. I can say unequivocally that Link-Systems’ student services solutions, particularly NetTutor and Pisces, have significantly improved our ability to support online student success and achieve student equity goals.”

One such collaboration was the formation of the Sharing Technology and Academic Resources in California (STAR-CA) consortium ( launched in 2019 and modeled on the STAR-NY Consortium. STAR-CA is an online tutoring solution that organizes the availability of campus tutors across the system for student access from sister colleges, using Pisces as the online tutoring platform. The availability of university tutors is supplemented by NetTutor to ensure that online tutoring is available when students need help. “STAR-CA subsidizes each college so that they can offer more support to students. It increases the work of campus tutors so that students can always find the help they need. This is essential given the competing priorities of working adults and students who struggle to find quiet time in a shared household. said Dr. Edward Pohlert, professor at MiraCosta College and director of STAR-CA. “We look forward to seeing more students enroll and getting the support they need as we bounce back from unfinished learning caused by COVID.”

Reacting to LSI’s announcement at this year’s ACTLA conference, Ted Blake, Learning Center Coordinator at Mt. learning and a collaborator at the service of our students. Their student-centered philosophy is evident with student service solutions that are inclusive, accessible, equitable and sustainable. In my position as President-elect of ACTLA and as a founding member and board member of STAR-CA, I am proud to partner with LSI to help students.
