Santander customers facing online banking problems this morning


Santander customers have been reporting issues with online banking since early this morning.

The issue impacts the banks’ “faster payments” service.

Santander asked customers not to try to make faster payments but to wait for the problem to be resolved.

Update: The issue is still ongoing, but the bank apologized for the inconvenience and said they are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

According to web-tracking service Downdetector, nearly 300 reports have been reported since about 5 a.m. of issues with online banking, mobile banking apps and fund transfers.

The bank officially acknowledged the problems it is facing this morning.

Customers took to social media to ask @santanderuk”are your systems down because I sent money to my Monzo which did not arrive. Also sent money from Monzo to Santander which was refused.

One person tweeted the bank’s customer service account saying, “I have the same problems, I try to pay pocket money to my daughters in their Santander Halifax accounts. I phoned Halifax and they say it’s a Santander problem.”

Another tweeted at the bank saying: “Big problem – transferring money from Santander to another account. Not received and missing from Santander account. Looks like I’m not the only one but still worrying. Unable to reach neither does customer service.

While another Twitter user said: “Hello. I am unable to transfer money to my Santander account from Lloyds. They say you are having issues preventing it from working. As it seems to be affecting many many customers, can you provide a service update?”

As of 8:45 a.m. there was no update on the bank’s problems.
