VyStar Members Experience Sporadic Online Banking Outages Friday – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — VyStar members are facing online banking outages again on Friday.

The outage comes less than two months after online banking was fully restored after an outage that lasted more than a month.

This outage was caused by the launch of the new credit union app.

In contrast to this situation, Friday’s outages were sporadic.

Throughout the day the app worked, then stopped and started working again.

We were first notified that VyStar was having issues around 11:20am.

Photos submitted to Action News Jax by viewers displayed an error message when trying to log into the mobile app.

On the VyStar website, a message was posted notifying members of an unexpected online banking outage.

A little over an hour later, a VyStar representative informed us that the issue had been resolved and users could log in again.

But less than half an hour after that, services went down again before coming back online one last time less than an hour later.

“VyStar Credit Union online and mobile banking experienced brief outages on Friday, August 12. During these times, all member information remains secure. In addition to online and mobile banking, members can access their accounts by visiting a VyStar ATM or branch, or calling Magic*Touch,” a VyStar representative said in a statement emailed around 14 p.m. h 45.

We met a woman outside a VyStar on Beach Boulevard as she withdrew the last amount of money from her account.

She told us she switched banks during the long outage this summer, but even she was surprised to learn of the problems on Friday.

She asked to remain anonymous but explained why she decided to switch banks.

“I don’t feel safe with my money and I can’t check it. Even when it can be checked, it’s not correct. Nothing is accurate, so I don’t feel safe with my money here,” the woman said.

On Friday around 4 p.m., the application was operational.
